Indulge Yourself

Year round attractions close to La Terraza de San Juan include:

Two of the best preserved Spanish Colonial Forts – San Felipe del Morro and the Castillo de San Cristobal are both within walking distance and open to the public every day for a nominal fee. Every third Sunday of the month, from 11am throughout the afternoon, El Morro is the site of a Living History Demonstration in English and Spanish with demonstrators in period dress reenacting the lives of 18th Century soldiers, including black powder firing drills, work, and what they did for recreation. San Cristobal provides a free tunnel tour every Saturday at 10:30am in English and Sunday at 10:30 am in Spanish. This exciting tour shows the underground secrets of the fortification—not for the claustrophobic or faint of heart. We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes early to sign up for this coveted tour, and prepare to be amazed.

Plaza Darsena and the Paseo de la Princesa are just down the street from the hotel. Every Saturday night the plaza hosts Bohemia Night with live local music. The paseo fills with strolling couples and families checking out the artisans and local delicacies. Every last Sunday of the month, the paseo hosts the I Love Puerto Rico Cultural Event, a gastronomic event with live music.

Deep-Sea Fishing—Just 1 mile off the coast of San Juan is the 600-foot Puerto Rico Trench, allowing you to spend the day fishing for sailfish, wahoo, dolphin, mackerel, and tarpon. Charters are available at the marina, just 10 minutes from the hotel.

Heineken Ventana al Jazz—Free live Jazz on the last Sunday of each month, at the Ventana al Mar in the Condado. The Ventana al Mar is a grassy park right on the ocean, 10 minutes away by car or cab.

Every month something new is happening in San Juan.
